To say there is a shortage of online dating websites would be an understatement, Online Dating Magazine estimates that there are over 2,500 in the U.S. alone. When you start out, there’s a mountain of sites to choose from; knowing where to start can be intimidating to say the least.
There is no shortage of dating sites: PlentyOfFish, Tinder, Zoosk, eharmony, Match.com are some of the better know ones. Below are a list of three favourite sites for speed dating online and locating speed dating events in your city or town. All of these are free, or offer a variety of free features, and can connect you with your ideal match in no time.
Match.com
Launched in 1995, and today serving 25 countries in more than eight languages, Match.com is one of the longest-exiting dating websites. Not only does Match.com have one of the quickest and most thorough signup processes of any dating site (a couple of minutes to answer important questions like “Do you want to have kids?”) — but it also wastes no time in finding you dates as soon as your profile is created. The company hosts its own exclusive events to encourage members to meet face to face and see if the chemistry is really there.
FOC Dating
This is a newer website that launched in 2015, and is aimed at speed-daters. According to the website, 85% of visitors signup every day. Unlike some other websites, users can start contacting members for free as soon as they sign-up.
Some of the features of SpeedDatingCupid include: Create your own free online dating profile to tell members about your personality and what you are looking for; Send a message and break the ice, and send winks to show your interest. You can create a Friend List to expand your social circle, and Create Hot List and add your special someone.
Billed as the “world’s largest speed dating site in the USA,” give SpeedDatingCupid a try if you’re looking for a new speed dating website.
OkCupid
OkCupid launched in 2004 and today operates in several countries besides the USA. It’s supported by advertisements and paying users who get to skip the ads. OkCupid is a free online dating site that has an excellent algorithm for matching partners, with 30 million active users, with a million logging in every day, according to The Telegraph, making it one of the biggest dating sites out there.
OKCupid works by asking members to fill out a series of up to 50 questions and indicate how important the response to each question is to you. Questions range from the ordinary to more abstract. These questions are picked at random from a list of tens of thousands. OkCupid then analyzes the member’s answers in an algorithm that considers more than just a handful of matching answers with another person, including margin of error, and it constantly puts question prompts on their homepage to collect more responses upon which to base their matches. If you are interested in a match on OkCupid, you can send a message to them. If you are not ready, you can Like or bookmark them. There also is a Tinder-like smartphone app to help you communicate if you prefer.
While there is no shortage of dating sites, these should give an ideas of some of your options – enjoy.
